Environmental protection
Munksjö shall run an industrial operation based on renewable raw materials and with a level of profits that provides scope for continued development in sustainable harmony with our environment. This requires strong commitment from the Board and within Munksjö´s subsidiaries, as well as careful monitoring of research and technical development. Munksjö's subsidiaries shall abide by the appropriate environmental legislation, Munksjö AB's environmental policy and the measures introduced by Munksjö AB, and they shall have an open attitude to authorities and the public when it comes to environmental matters. The companies' environmental performance is to be evaluated, monitored and constantly improved via increased conservation of energy and raw materials, increasing the efficiency of transport and the reduction of emissions, waste and noise.

Munksjö Decor goes green and helps protecting the environment. Munksjö Decor’s production sites in Aalen, Germany, and Tolosa, Spain, are now certified for FSC and PEFC. In order to close the chain of custody our Sales and Service Office in Fitchburg, USA, is certified for FSC as well. Thus we close the product chain for our customers helping to meet their needs for the supply of environmentally friendly products. We can deliver “FSC controlled wood“ as well as an important proportion of PEFC-certified decor papers. Upon request we deliver decor papers with the status “FSC mixed credit”.

Raw Material
Premium quality of raw materials is essential to keep consistent quality at the highest level of our decor paper begins not at least with a used. That is why we carry out several test methods on raw materials. Raw materials used for decor paper production are mainly:
• pulp (short fibre Eukalyptus/Birch and long fibre Pine)
• white pigments (TiO2) and
• coloured (inorganic and organic) pigments
• wet strength additives, such as epichlorohydrine and melamine formaldehyde resins
• retention aids: aluminium salts and polyacrylates
