The paper mill with the name you remember
In the middle of the 1800s, the chance meeting of two eminent gentlemen spawned the idea that later became the Munksjö paper mill. The two men were Janne Lundström, an inventor and industrialist born and raised in Jönköping, and Lars Johan Hierta, a prominent financier. Munksjö became one of Europe’s most innovative paper producers and continues to live up to its world-wide reputation with a number of global products.
The exhibition focuses on the people who helped Munksjö to be what it is today rather than on products and machinery. A great deal of space is devoted to Ottonin Ljungquist and his large family and household. He took over the mill after the founders. Every sunday 11am - 2 pm (February - April and October - November).
