In year 1862 is Munksjö Pappersbruk founded in Jönköping. The production starts for grey rag paper, tarred brown paper, straw paper, bookbinding- and pressboard, and also some "better" paper qualities. Number of employees is 40.

In 1879 is the straw pulp replaced by woodpulp.
Some years later are a new product launched, Kraft Paper. This quality was developed by Munksjö.
In 1909 starts the production of cable paper.
In 1939 starts the production of creped paper.
In 1954 is Paper Machine 13 acquired. This is the machine were all our qualities are produced today.
In 2006 a converting-plant is set up outside Shanghai in China.
